EBTP Member State Cooperation
The Member State Mirror Group played an important role when the EBTP was set-up in 2006. Since 2010, the EC Steering Group for Strategic Energy Technologies, has become the main platform for Member State representation in relation to the EBTP, particularly in developing the European Industrial Bioenergy Initiative (EIBI).
This reflects the focus of the EBTP on scale-up and demonstration of value-chains for sustainable advanced biofuels.
Biofuels and bioenergy issues such as sustainability, feedstocks, R&D&D and market development are also addressed at the national level by National Biofuels Technology Platforms and National Biofuels and Bioenergy Associations.
Research cooperation between Member States is supported under the KBBE and by initiatives such as the FP7 National Contact Points (NCPs), which strengthen cooperation and collaboration through the activities of C-EnergyPlus, including brokerage, joint events, dissemination, etc..
History of the Mirror Group
The Member State Mirror Group, acting in co-operation with the Technology Platform Steering Committee and the Secretariat supported the Platform in setting aims and objectives, proposing actions and providing opinion and feedback on the strategies, activities and results generated through the platform operations.
Participants in the Mirror Group were chosen representatives of Member States, Associated Candidate Countries and Associated States that were involved in the EC RTD Framework Programme and had an interest in the development of liquid biofuels for transport. Transnational organisations were also able to participate in the Mirror Group provided that the individual countries which belong to them did not raise any objections.
The first meeting of the Mirror Group was held on 11 December 2006. Short summaries covering national biofuels activities were presented (these are now out of date and have been removed from the public website).
